Due to the increase in website popularity we have witnessed a decrease in website performance. At times the website slows down to the point that it's no longet operational!
We have been monitoring the issue and we figured out that one of the reasons for the slowdown is due to the amount of messages in the inbox.
We initially allowed users a total of 60 messages in each user's inbox but when you multiply that by 14,000 users you get the picture, 840,000 messages.
We do not have a large server to keep up the demand and since these accounts are still free of charge, we need to come up with new measures to reduce the number of messages and at the same time keep everyone happy.
We have decreased the number of messages allowed in the inbox from 60 to 30 and please we ask some of you top stop spamming others with pointless messages. If there are messages that you like to keep, please copy and paste them to your own computer and do not use the website as an archival utility to keep such messages for years.
We have started to remove old messages that have never been read and messages that have been read but are 1-2 years old.
But the important thing is that we would like to clean up our messaging system so it performs much faster.
So starting January 15, 2007 we would be deleting messages older than 12/19/2006 7:21:48 PM
There are around 30,000 messages older than that date and we ask from you to please go through your messages and copy what you need and save it to your computer if you really care about them. Otherwise, leave them there and we will eventually delete them on January 15th.
So, on January, 15, 2007 we will remove all messages older than 12/19/2006 7:21:48 PM (US Eastern Time).
