1. What is this website all about?
   The website is known by IraqiClassmates.com or ArabClassmates.com and from its name people use the site to search for their school friends starting from elementary school all the way to university.
   
   
2. Is this website for Iraqis only?
   Although the website can handle any kind of country, right now we have limited its users to educational institutions in Iraq and to few universities in the UK and USA where many Iraqis studied to obtain their higher education. We are open to ideas from entrepreneurs and business oriented individuals who would like to expand this website to handle other countries.
   
   
3. How do I register with the website
   If you have never registered in the website, the process is very simple.

 
• Start by clicking on to locate the school that you want to register in by selecting the country, province, city, the type of school and then name of school. In case you select a university, you will need to select a department too.
   
• Click on at the bottom of the page
• Fill the form and submit it.
• An E-mail will be sent to you with a system generated password. You MUST use that password and login to your account after you receive the password otherwise your registration is not complete. If you do not login at least once, your account will never activate and no one will be able to find you, you won't be able to contact your friends either.
• Once you  login, your registration is complete. You can now login to change your password, upload a personal photo of yourself or you can add more schools to your account. To register another school, you must be logged in, and follow the same steps except, this time you will fill a much smaller form since you have already established an account. A password won’t be generated this time because you have one already.
  
   
4. I have already registered in one school, how do I register in another school?
• Login with the account you created the first time, click on
• You locate the school that you want to register in by selecting the country, province, city, type of school and then name of school.
   
• Click on at the bottom of the page
• Fill the form and submit it, that’s all.
  
   
5. I forgot my password, how can I retrieve it?
   Click here to retrieve your password. You must enter your e-mail address you used to register with the first time. An e-mail with the login information will be sent to you.
   
    
6. How do I make changes to my account?
   Each user has 1 main profile and many sub-profiles. When you first register in a school, one main profile is created that contains information listed below. Also a sub profile is created for the school you registered for. In the main profile, you can see what schools you have registered in.
    

   Main profile: This is used to change common information about yourself such as: E-mail address Password First name Middle name Last name Address related information Your personal photo
   Sub Profiles: Each educational institution you register yourself in, you enter small information related to this institution such as year joined, graduated, class name, name of friends you knew there and other information. So for each school/university you register with, you create this sub-profile.

In page, you can edit all your items in the Main Profile and only delete Sub-Profiles (under ‘You have registered yourself in the following schools’). If you make a mistake in your full name, e-mail address, … or want to change your password you can change that in the page. If you make a mistake in information you entered related to a specific school/university, you would have to delete that school from your profile and re-create it. Important note about changing your e-mail address, if you change your e-mail address we need to verify that the e-mail address is valid and it belongs to you. That's why your password gets re-set (we generate a new one for you) and we mail you your new account information. If the e-mail you entered is valid, you will be able to login again. This is a security measure to ensure your e-mail is yours and no one else's.

7. How do I upload or delete my photo?
• Login to your
• Click on
• In the middle of the page, click on the funny photo 
• The ‘Upload/Edit Photo’ window will pop-up
• To upload a new picture: Click on browse button, locate the picture on your computer and then click on ‘Upload Photo’ button.
• To delete your photo click on ‘Delete Photo’ button.

Note that we only accept photos in JPG (JPEG) format up to a 100kb in size. For best results, crop/resize your photo to a 200 by 200 pixels.
 

8. How can I search for a friend of mine?
   You can do this in two ways:
• Easy way: click on button to see all registered users and you can filter out the list by name, school type, start and end year. Then you can sort by school name to locate your friends. Once you locate your friend, you can either view the profile associated with that school or view the student’s main profile which will show you his/her information along with additional information related to all the schools he/she registered with. So click on . The one under 'Action?' column will show you the main profile and the one under 'Schools Attended' will show you the sub profile.
  
• Longer way: Click on and navigate to the school by selecting country, province, city, school type, school name, start and end year. In this way you will see only students you are interested. Once you locate your friend, you can either view the profile associated with that school.

In either case, you can contact your friend by clicking on the envelope icon . Note that you can only contact someone if you have logged into your account. We do not allow un-registered users to contact any registered user, this is out policy.
 

9. I found my friend, where is his/her e-mail address?
   We do not allow e-mail addresses to be viewed, however, we developed a messaging system that allows you to contact your friend without having to see each other’s e-mail addresses. This is how it works:
• No one can contact another unless both are registered users.
• To contact someone, you must be logged in.
• You write your message and send it, it sits in your friend’s inbox.
• Our system will notify your friend that he/she has got a message from you. It will be up to your friend to read the message and reply. So always make sure your account has your correct e-mail address, otherwise we will try to reach you and we can't tell you about your friend trying to contact you.
• It’s up to your friend to send you back a reply, when that happens, we will contact you and tell you that you have a message from your friend. All communication is done through us so no one has to give their e-mail address out.
  
   
10. I tried to upload my picture and I received an error
    If that happens, please make sure you are uploading a JPEG file with a JPG extension and it’s not larger than 100kb. If you keep receiving errors, try to upload your photo in a different time.
    
     
11. I tried to register and it wasn’t successful
    Sometimes users enter the wrong e-mail address or your provider’s e-mail server is down. What happens is that we try to send you a message but it does not get to you. If you do not receive the message within a couple of hours, go to the login page and try to retrieve your password. The system will try to send it to you again.
    
    We had cases in which some users didn’t know their correct e-mail address and we were never able to send them their account information. These accounts will stay inactive for some time and then eventually get deleted.
    
     
12. I registered but I never logged in, is my account still active?
    If you register and never login, your account is inactive and will stay like that until you register. However, the system purges inactive accounts after a specified period of time, usually 30 days or so. However, every now and then we try to remind inactive users to activate their account.
    
     
13. My country is not in your list, how can I add it?
    Currently we are focusing only on Iraq but this doesn't mean we can't handle any other country. Our system is custom build to handle all countries if we need to! However, due to lack of resources and time, we can only handle so much at one time and we decided to start with the country 'Iraq'. We add schools in Iraq and few universities outside of Iraq, mainly in the United Kingdom and the USA.
    
     
14. Where is my School? Where is my City or Province?
    If you don’t see your school, city or province it’s because we do not know what schools are there in that part of your country. So please help us make our list as complete as possible. You can do this by clicking here.
    
    If you send us a school name please write it in Arabic, otherwise it’s difficult to translate school names from English to Arabic. We ignore school names sent to use in English.
    
     
15. Where is my University Department OR My University does not have so many departments! Where did these come from?
    The list of departments is a generic list, choose what best fits your University, if there is a department that’s missing please contact us and we will add it.
    
     
16. Is its service for free?
    The service is currently free of charge, which does not mean it will remain like this forever. We promised that the first 1000 users receive a lifetime complementary access and that's in appreciation for their support.
